Red Envelopes
An adaptation of the Black Sect (BTB) Feng Shui Red Envelope Tradition
The purpose of this tradition is to symbolically and energetically exchange our blessings and protection to each other as the one seeking metaphysical advice and the one offering it.
Waaayyyy back in the day in ancient China, feng shui wisdoms were passed from father to son/ master to apprentice through oral tradition. The transference of knowledge and wisdoms was approached with care and respect. When someone in the community desired feng shui advice, they would place money inside a red envelope to gift the practitioner. This was done with sincerity and generosity.
The “Red Envelope Tradition” is an offshoot of this ancient practice that has been carried on within the Black Sect (BTB) lineage of feng shui. The BTB Red Envelope Tradition asks for 9 red envelopes, with the total monetary gift being a multiple of 9. The number 9 is chosen because it is regarded as a highly powerful, protective, and auspicious number. I learned about the Red Envelope Tradition through Anjie Cho and Laura Morris (of Mindful Design Feng Shui School), who studied the Black Sect lineage of feng shui with Professor Lin Yun. In present day use beyond the niche BTB tradition, you’ll notice that gifting money in red envelopes is a long standing and common practice within Chinese culture for a variety of occasions. Red is considered highly protective and auspicious (good luck).
While I am carrying over the generous, sincere, and respectful heart of the BTB red envelope tradition, I’m making an adaptation to include the exchange of my knowledge of astrology, numerology, and ki-ology in addition to feng shui teachings. In this way, with the use of red envelopes, my hope is to foster a spirit of community and care that honors the transference of wisdoms and insights, as well as the noble pursuit of self cultivation.

Accepted money is US currency.
1 or 9 envelopes may be used.
Any amount of money is accepted, with the ideal total value being a multiple of 9.
Other:
To go all out, you’d infuse your Qi/positive intentions into the envelopes by holding them in a meditative moment, or by sleeping for one night with them under your pillow.
After receiving the envelopes, I will spend a meditative moment with the envelopes or sleep with them under/near my pillow for one night, and in the morning offer a prayer and blessing for your success.
